Week 3 (Session 1): Monday Newtown Monkey (Hou Zhi) Group
Alex, Kitty, Asher and Isabella played with fruit cutting toys and stringed different shapes. I taught them different fruit and vegetable names, and also presented them with some shapes (e.g. star/星xīng, circle/圆yuán, triangle/三角sān jiǎo). They all copied and acquired very well.

Week 3 (Session 2): Monday Newtown Monkey (Hou Zhi) Group
Leila, Lily, HuZi and Oscar are in my group and all the children reviewed flash cards quickly and interdentally. Lily and Oscar introduced their names in Chinese. Leila could say pink/粉红色(fěn hóng sè). Some of them said cat/猫(māo), house/房子(fang zi), flower/花(huā), butterfly/蝴蝶(hú dié), cup/茶杯(chá bēi) as well.

Week 4: Saturday Annex Room General Overview
We presented “It’s Sunny!” this Saturday and showed hats, sunglasses, sunscreen during the sensory session. Children joined us very well in each session. I noticed that some children in our baby group (year 1-3) were able to count numbers with teachers. Learning a new language is not a short term activity, and children need more time on grounding of pronunciation, grammar, words of their Chinese teachers. Their language ability is gradually improved in our Mandarin speaking environment.
