Our Mandarin classes for children have been researched and developed for children who are both native and non-native Chinese speakers. Currently, the majority of children who attend our classes are non-native speakers. Our Mandarin Stars community is diverse and we welcome children from all cultural backgrounds.
Week 10: Monday Newtown General Overview
This week we learned about ‘Going to the park’ once again. We showed the class a swing, a slippery dip and balls in the sensory part. Chao Chao came up to help Ding Ding push the swing, lovely! I found that Tong Tong and Asha have really been enjoying our ‘who’s behind the door’ activity and are willing to come behind the theatre. I’m really glad to see them participating in our activities happily and confidently. It was also seen that most children are now pretty familiar with the fruit names thanks to our weekly practice at snack time. For instance, most children can now say ‘ping guo’ spontaneously. Well done!
The story for today was ‘the rainbow dream’. During the story telling we revised the name of the colours and some animals. What a colourful ending for the happy semester!

Week 10: Friday/ Saturday Craft Room General Overview
it’s our lovely Ling Ling’s birthday this week! We all put on our hats and had a huge birthday pai du (party) for Ling Ling. Everybody shared the birthday cake and we also gave presents to Ling Ling.
It was also Helena’s 4th birthday this week. Thank you Helena for bringing a cake and sharing it with us. Aidan’s and Nikki’s mums also brought cakes to the class for all the children to share. We would like to thank all of you dearly. 
We made cupcakes for craft this week. All the children showed their great passion and creativity by picking the colours and decorations to put on the plate. Lovely!
