We had Emily, Nate, Declan and Samuel in our Lion Group for the first session, and Cartin, Aidan, Marina, Kate and Cassandra were in our group in the second session.

Again everybody did a great job in self-introduction, as well as the flashcards revision. I could feel that the children are gradually getting more confident in their Mandarin pronunciation, which is great!

For the second session we played the ‘guess what’ game in our group this week, to test and see how well the children are mastering the new vocabulary. To my surprise, most words were said correctly and loudly by our Mandarin Stars, and Cartin was our champion this week, well done!

By playing with our ‘Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head’, we reviewed words such as ‘yan jing’ (eyes), ‘er duo’ (ears), ‘zui ba’ (mouth) and ‘hu zi’ (mustache). And for craft this week we made ‘wa zi’ – socks. We also stuck little stars and ‘mian hua’ (cotton) on them. Nice!

See you next week!

The topic this week for our Craft Room Groups was ‘my clothes’. We prepared ‘jeans’, ‘T-shirts’, ‘pants’, ‘socks’ and ‘dresses’ for the sensory section, and had the children hang them up in the class.

We also told the story ‘wo de ge ge’ (My older bother) – who wears a sweater, a pair of jeans, leather shoes, and likes to read, sing and play football.

For craft this week we made ‘socks’. It was a good practice for the children to design and stick, as well as to learn the Mandarin words we use in the process.

See you next week!
