Our Mandarin classes for children have been researched and developed for children who are both native and non-native Chinese speakers. Currently, the majority of children who attend our classes are non-native speakers. Our Mandarin Stars community is diverse and we welcome children from all cultural backgrounds.
Ni hao!
What a wonderful term we are having! It has been really great to see and hear how much many of our children are absorbing in our sessions. As a parent myself, I see the benefits of the Mandarin Stars program on my own children. Already 23 month old Quon can say ‘Xie xie’, ‘Ni hao!’ ‘Zai jian!’.. He knows his body parts and can quite easily take instructions in his playgroup sessions with his teacher Vicky, Monica and Angel.
Our other son Leo, who is now 4 started learning Mandarin only 18 months ago and again, can quite easily take instructions in Mandarin from his teacher AJ and can self introduce confidently- ‘Ni hao, my name is Leo. I am 4 years old. I like…. (He can name distinct objects etc…)…, yes please, No thank you….’
So far, I have been very happy with how both boys are learning Mandarin- they seem to enjoy the classes a lot and while Quon loves to play in the language learning environment, Leo is starting this year to enjoy the language games and puzzles that his teachers devise.
