Ni hao!

Have you seen Languages on the Move?

Check it out!

http://www.languageonthemove.com/

There is great research on the site related to bilingualism/ multilingualism and what I particularly love about it is the multicultural element it brings to developing our knowledge about why/ how we learn new languages and also the cultural benefits we can all receive.

As Mandarin Stars grows with success, I see a growing responsibility that myself and the teachers have in developing not just our student’s Mandarin Chinese language skills but also a strong sense, pride and knowledge of what it is to be multicultural here in Australia. After all, we already live in a truly multicultural world.. and a world that continues to become more and more diverse- both culturally and linguistically.

For us at Mandarin Stars- this is something to embrace and share with our children and well, quite frankly- we just love our role in developing this lifelong skill and appreciation in our children!

Have a great day!

Xie xie!

Ni hao!

On Saturday 13th February, Mandarin Stars exhibited at the Chinese New Year Festival in Chatswood to support the wonderful start to the year of the TIGER and to also promote our Mandarin classes for children.

It was a humid day and we exhibited with our co-sponsor, Melissa Gock from Smartstix (www.smartstix.com.au) .  As we both set up in the morning, each with a husband and son in tow, we questioned whether or not the rain would hold off. Luckily- it did and we were able to stay and give out some fabulous goodie bags and tell people about our competition to win several Smartstix packs and also some vouchers for Mandarin Stars!

The food stalls, stands and lion dancing were all a great hit. It was such a wonderful day to exxhibit at and support and we hope that everyone who came to the festival had as much fun as we did!

Wishing you a very Happy Chinese New Year!

Best wishes,

Dawna.
