Mandarin Stars was highly intrigued by a recent article from Sid Myer, chairman of the National Asian Languages and Studies in Schools Program Reference Group: “Asia focus a smart call for schools”.

Sid Myer discusses the importance of incorporating Asian studies in Australian new national curriculum, especially in today’s increasingly globalised work. “Australia’s future is inextricably linked to Asia. By the time a five-year-old starting school today enters the workforce, China and India are predicted to be the world’s major economies.”

He raises the benefits to our children through increased intercultural understanding, business employability and harmony in solving global issues.
