Ni hao!
As part of our ongoing commitment to support your child’s Mandarin learning outside of the Mandarin Stars lessons, we would like to share these excellent videos online. Full of sounds, colour and fun, these resources are an excellent and educational way to enjoy Mandarin together with your child on a rainy day.
Mandarin Stars highly encourages families to watch the videos together, and learn the phrases or sing the songs with your child afterwards! Some videos particularly recommended by our teachers include:
- Colours (yan se) song: learn how to say colours in Mandarin by singing them out!
- Pin yin song: one really good way to memorise pin yin pronounciations
- The Prince Of Egypt – When You Believe: great Disney song (with Chinese and pinyin subtitles)
- Clay doll (ni wa wa): very clever and cute music clip with animation from the Disney movie Mulan (with English subtitles)
- A race between the rabbit and the turtle: a Mandarin story
- The three little pigs (a Mandarin story)
- Teletubbies say ‘zai jian’
- Mulan – Reflection
- Mulan – Honor To Us All
- Mulan – I’ll Make a Man Out of You: a wonderful song from the movie Mulan (sung by Jackie Chan)
- Mulan – A Girl Worth Fighting For
- Aladdin -A Whole New World
- Something There – Beauty & the Beast
- “Here I Am” (Mandarin Chinese) w/Subs & Translation
