Native Level 1

These highly interactive classes are taught in 100% immersion-based Mandarin, designed specifically for native speakers of Mandarin.  Classes aim to teach strong listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in Mandarin.

In our native level 1 classes (for students age 5-7 years), we teach Mandarin through topics related to themes such as self-introduction, numbers, colours, my family, body, going to school, telling the date and time plus and countries we have visited or wish to visit! Our goal is that our level 1 native learners can confidently communicate in their native language outside of the home and within an ‘everyday’ communication situation within the classroom environment and common daily settings.

Furthermore, in line with Stage 1 syllabus for the NSW Chinese K-10 Syllabus, students apply pronunciation, stress and phrasing, identifying the four tones and comparing consonant and vowel sounds. They copy familiar Hanzi, recognising the morphological nature of Chinese words, and identify parts of speech and basic word order in simple sentences.
